How much is tooth whitening cost?

Our clinic is using laser to do teeth whitening, the total cost for teeth whitening will be RM 1600 including home kit. 

How does laser whitening work?

During this procedure, a bleaching product is painted onto your teeth. Then a light or laser is shone on the teeth to activate the chemical. The light speeds up the reaction of the whitening product and the colour change can be achieved more quickly. Laser whitening is said to make teeth up to five or six shades lighter.

How long do the teeth whitening effects last?

Teeth whitening is not permanent. People who expose their teeth to foods and beverages that cause staining may see the whiteness start to fade in as little as one month. Those who avoid foods and beverages that stain may be able to wait one year or longer before another whitening treatment or touch-up is needed.

How to use home kit?

The brand we are using for home kits is LumiSmile.

1. Floss teeth and then brush gently. (Fig. 1)

2. Apply a small amount of gel into the lower facial part of your custom-designed whitening trays (Fig. 2). Try to avoid dispensing an excessive amount into the tray. Using a cotton swab, remove any excess gel from the tray margins (Fig. 3). (If you are sensitive to peroxide, before inserting the trays, apply a thin amount of petroleum jelly to the gums adjacent to the teeth that will be whitened.) 

3. Insert the whitening trays into the mouth (Fig. 4).

4. Two concentration levels (16% and 32%) of whitening syringe are provided. For 16% formulation, the recommended bleaching regimen is 1 treatment per day for 4–8 hours for 14 days or until desired results are achieved. For 22% formulation, the recommended bleaching regimen is 1–2 treatments per day for 1–2 hours for 14 days, or until desired results are achieved. For 32% formulation, the recommended bleaching regimen is 1–2 treatments per day for 10–15 minutes for 14 days, or until desired results are achieved. 

5. Clean mouthguard thoroughly after each use and then brush your teeth again. 

6. Rinse with an alcohol-free mouthwash. 

7. When you are ready for refills, contact your dental professional for additional LumiSmile White Take-Home whitening gel. Warnings: Keep out of the reach of children. Not for injection. If irritation (such as redness, swelling, soreness) of the gums or the mouth occurs, discontinue use and consult a dentist. Products containing peroxides are not recommended for use by children under 12 years of age. Use of product for periods of longer than 14 days is to be only under the supervision of a dentist. Avoid swallowing and avoid contact of the product with the eye. Avoid direct contact of the active surface of the tooth whitening product with the gums and/or salivary flow (Fig. 5).
